Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo

It's spring break in Austin, which means South by Southwest for the hipsters and the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo for the rest of us. Dahlia's parents had been to the rodeo several times over the last few years, and this year Dahlia joined them for a trip to the fairgrounds.

There was so much to see and do! Dahlia and her dad checked out the livestock:

Dahlia took a couple of tractors for a test drive. What a sweet ride!

The "swine sprints" (also known as pig races) are one of the biggest highlights of any trip to the fair. Dahlia and her parents watched one round of races. The first pig to make it to the finish line wins the title of "swiftest swine" and a coveted Oreo cookie. Who will it be? Brad Pigg? Sarah Jessica Porker?

"Those Oreos look awfully tasty. If I wear a snout, do you think they'll let me race too?"

Dahlia thought the fairgrounds were great, and she really enjoyed her lunch. Do you remember Kaori's trip to the Minnesota State Fair two summers ago where she sampled a boggling range of fried foods on a stick? It looks like Dahlia inherited her mom's taste in food, as she devoured her first corndog in record time. What a treat!
