This year she was back. And prepared. Holding a plastic container and waiting for the parade to begin:
Dahlia didn't have to wait very long for the parade to begin. There were antique cars, a lot of flags, and Dahlia's favorite neighborhood "tradition" of all...
Candy! It's a neighborhood tradition for the people riding in the parade to toss candy to (or is it at?) the folks watching them go by. Notice how quickly Dahlia (and her dad) filled up their container, as they scurried around to pick up the candy that people threw from their "floats:"
Dahlia was even allowed to try out something from her new candy collection, as she enjoyed her first lollipop on the walk/ride back to her house. She thought it was great:
The Fourth was another scorcher, so Dahlia and her parents went directly from the parade to a "rock n river" pool park up in Round Rock. It was very kid-friendly, complete with water slides, playground equipment in the water, wading pools, a "lazy river," and all sorts of other fun water activities:
Dahlia was a little suspicious when her dad encouraged her to go down the slide, but she gladly took the plunge when she saw her mom waiting for her at the bottom of the slide:
On the same day that Dahlia discovered lollipops, she also had her first peanut butter and jelly sandwich (do her parents know how to live or what?). Yum, yum! Just like her parents, Dahlia enjoys peanut butter:
The Fourth of July is always an important day in Dahlia's house because it's her parents' anniversary. This year they celebrated their fifth anniversay in "Hill Country" style at a local restaurant that featured such unusual fare as rattlesnake cakes and a wild game sampler plate:
Happy anniversary! Here's to many more!
