St. Croix

Back in December, Dahlia and her parents went on the annual Yamada Family Vacation. This time they spent the holidays in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dahlia was very excited when she arrived and saw the beautiful beaches, exclaiming, "Ooooo...water...I go water..."

Dahlia quickly adapted to life in the water. One of her favorite activities was riding in her brand-new Anpanman (a Japanese cartoon character) float:

Dahlia spent many, many hours in the water with her extended family. From left to right, Aunt May, Cousin Eli (hiding Aunt Erica), Dahlia and her mom, and a distracted Ojiichan:

Another highlight of the trip was that Dahlia got to meet her new cousin, Evelyn:

After a week in St. Croix, Dahlia finally learned everybody's name. A family portrait:

The beach bum lifestyle suited Dahlia. One day her mom turned her head for a minute and before she knew it Dahlia and her dad were enjoying a frothy drink at the bar:

Enjoying a leisurely lunch...and another frothy drink:

Dahlia thought that one of the best parts of the trip was that she got to spend lots of time with her cousin Eli. Sharing buckets on the beach:

Playing with trains together:

And just setting a bad example for one another. Here Dahlia tries to egg Eli on to some high-flying feats (not really). "Come on, Eli!"

Exploring the restaurant just when everyone else was ready to sit down to dinner:

It was another great trip! See you again soon, Eli!
