The cruise sailed out of Los Angeles, which meant that it stayed on pacific time. Meanwhile, Dahlia and (especially) Jonah decided to stay on central time. That meant that they were waking up just as many of the other passengers were turning in for the night. The downside to waking up by 6 am every morning was that the cruise wasn't even serving breakfast yet. The best part about waking up that early, however, was that Dahlia and Jonah had the run of the ship. Dahlia quickly learned to take advantage of the situation by playing many early-morning rounds of miniature golf with her dad (it's one of his favorite activities). The course had an amazing ocean view, and they usually had it all to themselves:
Dahlia plays miniature golf in her own inimitable style. It's an unconventional approach to putting, but it seems to work for her. Hole in one!
When Dahlia and her dad had played enough miniature golf, they walked over to the basketball court on the outdoor deck. Dahlia's dad was very happy to cross "make a three-pointer on a moving ship" off his bucket list:

The ship also had many different swimming pools to visit. Next to one of them there was a big wave runner to sit on:
But one of the most unusual features of the cruise ship was an ice skating rink. One of the real highlights of the trip was Dahlia's first attempt at ice skating. She didn't get too far, but she thoroughly enjoyed getting rides from Aunt Erica and her mom:
