Mexican Cruise: Part One

This year's Yamada Family Vacation was also a celebration of Obaachan and Ojiichan's fortieth wedding anniversary. To mark the big occasion, Dahlia and Jonah went on a cruise for the first time. (It was also their dad's first cruise.) Dahlia and Jonah had never seen such a big ship before. They were very impressed:

The ship was huge, but Dahlia and Jonah were joined by more than 4,000 other passengers. That meant that the individual rooms were pretty cozy, especially for a family of four:

Fortunately, every cabin came with a small balcony. While it was nice to have some extra space to lounge around in, it made Dahlia and Jonah's parents very nervous:

The service on the cruise ship was outstanding. One of the highlights for Dahlia and Jonah was the towel art that greeted them when they got back to their room each day. This cool dog stole Mom's sunglasses and the remote:

Even better than the towel art was the bed on which Dahlia slept for the week. Dahlia loved the bunk bed, ignoring the sign that said it was only for children over the age of six, climbing up...

...and settling in for the night. Her parents went to sleep worried that a 33-pound flying object was going to fall from the sky in the middle of the night:

When she woke up the next morning, it was time to explore the ship with Cousin Eli. They discovered just how big the ocean was, gazing out from one of the many dining rooms at the open sea:

Every morning they enjoyed the fabulous views. And the breakfast buffet. One of the highlights of the trip for Dahlia was the ability to sample an endless array of food. She sampled at least ten different items at every single meal. Here you can see the wreckage of breakfast as she takes in the view:
