Dahlia's second birthday was a quiet affair. Her parents took her out for pizza and ice cream and called it a night. Sometime during the summer, however, Dahlia discovered that she really, really liked going to birthday parties. She began to talk obsessively about her own birthday party and counted down the months until "oc-TOE-ber" when she was going to have a "big big birthday party." Dahlia had big plans, but she couldn't seem to make up her mind. She asked her parents for everything from a "green" birthday party to a pool party.
Her parents, being good sports, gave in and invited Dahlia's entire class to Edinborough Park, a massive indoor playground full of twisty slides and bouncy houses:

The birthday girl was delighted. She had a great time climbing, sliding, and just playing around:
Her friends had a great time, too. One of their favorite activities was riding down and falling off the slide:
After running around for a while, it was time for lunch. Dahlia wore a stylish birthday crown as she dined on one of her favorite foods, pizza:

Many of Dahlia's new school friends came to the party, and a good time was had by all:

While Dahlia's birthday plans shifted constantly as the big day approached, one thing she was consistently excited about was a Dora the Explorer cake:
As her exciting day came to an end, Dahlia made the following pronouncement: "I have birthday party again tomorrow!" Happy birthday, Dahlia!
Dahlia was SO excited when she saw her cake, and she did a great job blowing out the candle!

The fun didn't end when everyone went home. Dahlia stayed at Edinborough Park for another hour, and then finally it was time for her to go home and open her birthday presents. Dahlia was very pleased with all of her loot:

Oh yeah... For us the big change was now at 4. Alan had a birthday party for 3, but he wasn't really sure what to expect. But this year... oh boy... he had been asking for a few months and then counting the days for the last 5 weeks... One day, 4 weeks before the birthday, he cried for like 15 minute because his birthday "was not tomorrow". It looks like Dahlia had a great time!!!
