More Fall Fun

As soon as the family arrived in Minnesota, it seemed like fall went into full swing. It was quite a change of pace from Austin, where summer temperatures usually last well into October and leaves don't fall until December. Taking advantage of their first real fall in years, everyone took in the fall foliage at the University of Minnesota Arboretum:

It was a gorgeous autumn day, perfect for walking around outside through the many gardens at the arboretum. Dahlia alternated between riding and hopping:

Jonah also relied on multiple modes of transportation, although he wasn't as active as his sister and soon decided to take a nap:

The day was beautiful, the leaves were gorgeous, and there were many kid-friendly activities at the nature center. The only unfortunate part of the day took place late in the afternoon when Dahlia turned one of the play areas into an obstacle course. She was enthusiastically jumping from tree stump to tree stump...

...but didn't quite make it on one occasion and ended up with a split lip and a cut on her chin just in time for her birthday pictures. Oops.

Despite the arboretum mishap, Dahlia continued to enjoy the fall. One of her favorite activities was raking leaves, especially when she got to put them in a pumpkin bag. In these pictures you can see both how much Dahlia enjoyed herself and a very stylish outfit that she picked out herself. Take a look at those cowgirl boots. You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the girl!
