The Little Gymnast

After experiencing the joys of gymnastics at Cousin Abigail's birthday party last summer, Dahlia was hooked! For the past few months, she's been taking a gymnastics class of her own at the Little Gym. Every Sunday night, Dahlia goes to class, where she gets an opportunity to burn off some energy and show off her fearlessness.

Walking across the parallel bars, monkey style:

Using the wall to support a handstand:

Walking across the balance beam:

Simply walking across the balance beam is a little tame for Dahlia. She has more fun doing all sorts of tricks, like standing on her tiptoes and balancing on one leg:

At the end of the "semester," Dahlia and her classmates had a special show where they demonstrated all of the new skills they had learned. During the closing ceremony, everyone received a glamorous medal. Dahlia was so pleased with hers that she wore it to school for days and once even insisted on wearing it to sleep:

Dahlia likes most of the activities at the Little Gym, but she absolutely loves to show off her ability to somersault. Watch this video to see how many somersaults she can string together at one time. It's too bad that somersaulting isn't an Olympic sport!
