The Snow Starts to Melt!

In the middle of March, a hard rain came through town and the snow finally began to melt. It had been one of the Twin Cities' snowiest winters on record, and just about everyone was eager for it to end. Dahlia was so excited to see grass for the first time in months that she did a victory dance (in her snow boots, hat, and mittens)!

"The snow is melting! The snow is melting!"

Once the snow had melted and it started to warm up, it finally became possible to play outside on a regular basis. In no time at all, the area in front of the house was covered with toys and chalk drawings. One day Dahlia surprised her parents by spelling her name in chalk. Her parents, who didn't realize that she had been working on that skill, were very impressed and grateful to Dahlia's outstanding teachers!

As the weather improved, Dahlia and Jonah started to expand their horizons, visiting outdoor sites that they didn't manage to get to during the fall. One of their first trips was to the Minnesota Zoo. As usual, Jonah grabbed the map and started to direct everyone to the best exhibits:

Traveling in style, with an assist from Dad:

The trip to the zoo was a success! There were sharks, dolphins, snow monkeys, bears, and so many more things to admire. The zoo was so much fun that Dahlia and Jonah became members and looked forward to many return visits.
